Character Sketches from PJ



YidCore meeting this afternoon!

Hey guys!
We are meeting up this afternoon to decide on delegation of work, run through the script and discuss a few other issues. The meeting is at 3PM in the studio. Please try and make it! This meet is for everyone involved in the project. So please be there =)
I'm sending a time sheet for you as well. Please keep a tab on how many hours you work. Its fairly simple to work out the sheet. Please name your own timesheet as yourName_projectName_timeSheet.xls. This would make things easier for me when you send it in later for compilation. This is just a test run on this project.
I'll be sending a list of naming conventions that are to be used, tonight. Please make sure you adhere to that as well, just to ease the workflow.

What's up?

We started off with character design and backgrounds yesterday! And its going good I must say =) PJ has come up with a few designs that are to be approved by Yeap.

Micky, James, Gav and Hung have started off on Assets and Backgrounds.. We'll have a reference of a background and an asset up today I guess..

Yeap hopes to have an animatic up by tomorrow! We've made a few changes to the script as well.. will incorporate that as well and upload it.. I'll have a shots list ready by then as well.

Please keep checking the blog for more.

Pointers to be noted:
1. We're working at a screen res of 1024 x 576!
2. All assets to be created at 300 dpi.
3. All assets would have BLACK outlines.
4. I shall be sending a timesheet tonight. Please keep tab of how many hours you're working on this project. This is a TEST RUN for future projects that would need hours to be billed =)

WE WILL BE MEETING ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT AROUND 3 IN THE STUDIO for a rundown on whats happening, whats to be done, who's doing what and the progress. I hope everyone (including the animators can make it!) Will confirm this via email this afternoon.

P.S. Sam Howie, Sarah and Shreyas have pulled out due to various reasons. fyi.

Brief

Hey guys!
I've sent a basic brief, the lyrics and script thats been provided to us at this stage for the YidCore (YC) project. I've also uploaded character sketches for Juan and PJ to take a look at. We're meeting on Thursday at 10 AM to start off on character design and backgrounds. Please take a look at the excel sheet sent for the responsibilties assigned =) I've made a few changes to it according to the number of people required for each of the responsibilties.

Jayt and Lachlan, I am not sure if you guys want to be involved.. lemme know by Thursday morning =) thats my deadline to give in a list.
James (Paul), will keep you posted.. Once I get more on hand!

The excel sheet will be updated everyday and sent to you! So keep checking! I've also sent contact details of people working on the project.. I've missed out on a few phone numbers.. will update it soon.. once I get 'em! You will not be able to make changes on the Excel sheet as its password protected (to avoid confusion!). So use it as a read-only file.

YEAP's thoughts: As this is a professional piece of work, we expect you to meet deadlines. Please do make sure of that. It is not a student work. And if you pitch in for something, please make sure you complete it. We need as compact a team as possible, and so if you're okay with working more than 16-18 hours a week, climb aboard.

So please make sure you're upto it! If not, please let me know by Thursday morning. Otherwise it would lead to confusion and chaos. (Thanks!)

We're hoping to finish the animatic, character designs, backgrounds and assets by the 10th of April (Monday) so that we give Yeap and Sam (two days!) time to rig our characters. We start of animating on Wednesday/Thursday (12th-13th).

More details of the shot breakdown and assets to be built, etc. will follow =)

Meet on Monday!

Hey guys!
We're meeting on April 2, 2007 (Monday) at 4.30 pm in the studio to discuss our next project with Yeap!

We'd have to give in an exact number of people working on the project to Yeap, so lemme know if you're going to be involved in the project =)
If so, let me know
1. how many hours you can put in per day or how many days a week
2. what you'd be interested in working on: storyboarding, asset building, character design, rigging, animatic, animation, backgrounds, special effects, compositing, editing, rendering and exporting.

I need to know the above cause I know all of us are pretty busy with deadlines/holidays and the like and it'd be easier with the above info. We have ONE month to complete the project. So think about it and lemme know when we meet up! Thanks..

And for those who can't make it, I'll email you details soon, after which you can let me know if you want to pitch in!

Brief

Animation Pointers

We are using DIGITAL CUTOUTS due to time and budget constraints. This medium has proved to be effective (if treated with care) and less time-consuming.

Apply the simple rules of squash and stretch, over shoot, ease in and out, follow throughs and lags. We want to make the audience believe that these cutout images are alive.

Visual Treatment

We will stick to a tight colour palette. Generally all subjects are monochromatic with a wash of colour.



Most scenes appear backlit, at dusk, the mood should be dark and gloomy but gradually gets brighter as the chickens are liberated and the pigs are at bay.
