Yidcore latest!
Hey guys!
Works started in full flow now.. Sam, Jayt and Juan: do you guys wanna come in and get some stuff off me? I've uploaded the spreadsheet now.. different people are animating different stuff now!
We might have one more person in helping us! James from Semester One-will know tomorrow!
Oh Yeap is a powerhouse! He's done almost 8 shots now.. and they're looking so cool!
Come in and check out whats been happening =) or be lazzyy and wait until Friday for me to upload it on the blog!
But we're doing a great job. We're back on track! Yayyy...

This is so exciting AND..
this is why I love ANIMATION CLUB!!!
Yeap, Micky, MoonSun.. have started animating today. It looks like SOOOOO much fun! Yeap's done with the first scene! And Micky's done all his key animations! MoonSun's done one shot and me(?!), I'm just starting!
We shall hopefully have some up on the blog soon for everyone to take a look at! And guys, please come up to me and ask for work!
Take a look at the blog for some of Hung's stuff.. they're awesome! Hung, two small changes to be made.. please lemme know when you're in!
James, I've been slack in sending you work but I really need to get all the assets in place first before I send you stuff. So sorry. I promise I'll have it sent to you tomorrow!

Please follow the file management system in place for the YidCore project:
The computer we would using is the one right outside the Dub Room on the orange table!
username: s3146682
password: donatello
YidCore --> afterEffects --> yourFolder
--------------------
yourfolder (e.g. 001_soldierMarch_001) would follow the folder and file hierarchy
shotname.aep (e.g. 001_soldierMarch_001.aep) (this is your after effects file)
assetsAndBackgrounds (this would contain all the assets and backgrounds you use)

Animatic up tomorrow and..
Hey guys!
We got done with the animatic today and Yeap had a meeting with the band as well. They liked the stuff that we've done as of now! Great job guys =)
We were asked to edit the song as well.. and so its down to around 3:20 approx (in length).
PJ and Juan are still working on our characters.. Jo as well! So we'll get the characters done by tomorrow night and hopefully rigged on Thursday! Michael's worked on the chorus animatic and has started a key scene as well. Hung's uploaded some of the backgrounds he's done on our blog. Gav's worked on a whole lot of assets that can be used throughout the first half of the song.. He's yet to colourise them! James' (working from Korea!!) done some assets as well =)
So keep a look out on the blog.. tomorrow! For some updates on assets. And the animatic.
I'll have a shots, assets and backgrounds list by tomorrow night and also a list of tasks delegated to people, animators included.
See y'll tomorrow!

Easter Update
Hello there!
Happy Easter! Hope you guys are having an awesome weekend =)
Umm, have sent out a modified time sheet to all. Please do use this as we might be using this to decide on payments due to each individual.
We have another meeting on Tuesday at 11.30 AM. Please be there. Your presence is required as we are starting to animate on Wednesday. And we need a review on stuff thats been done. If the time doesnt suit you, please lemme know.. Will try and make it at a convenient time.
Also, I've sent the spreadsheet with a bit of an update. More to follow on that!

YidCore meeting this afternoon!
Hey guys!
We are meeting up this afternoon to decide on delegation of work, run through the script and discuss a few other issues. The meeting is at 3PM in the studio. Please try and make it! This meet is for everyone involved in the project. So please be there =)
I'm sending a time sheet for you as well. Please keep a tab on how many hours you work. Its fairly simple to work out the sheet. Please name your own timesheet as yourName_projectName_timeSheet.xls. This would make things easier for me when you send it in later for compilation. This is just a test run on this project.
I'll be sending a list of naming conventions that are to be used, tonight. Please make sure you adhere to that as well, just to ease the workflow.

What's up?
We started off with character design and backgrounds yesterday! And its going good I must say =) PJ has come up with a few designs that are to be approved by Yeap.
Micky, James, Gav and Hung have started off on Assets and Backgrounds.. We'll have a reference of a background and an asset up today I guess..
Yeap hopes to have an animatic up by tomorrow! We've made a few changes to the script as well.. will incorporate that as well and upload it.. I'll have a shots list ready by then as well.
Please keep checking the blog for more.
Pointers to be noted:
1. We're working at a screen res of 1024 x 576!
2. All assets to be created at 300 dpi.
3. All assets would have BLACK outlines.
4. I shall be sending a timesheet tonight. Please keep tab of how many hours you're working on this project. This is a TEST RUN for future projects that would need hours to be billed =)

Brief
Hey guys!
I've sent a basic brief, the lyrics and script thats been provided to us at this stage for the YidCore (YC) project. I've also uploaded character sketches for Juan and PJ to take a look at. We're meeting on Thursday at 10 AM to start off on character design and backgrounds. Please take a look at the excel sheet sent for the responsibilties assigned =) I've made a few changes to it according to the number of people required for each of the responsibilties.
Jayt and Lachlan, I am not sure if you guys want to be involved.. lemme know by Thursday morning =) thats my deadline to give in a list.
James (Paul), will keep you posted.. Once I get more on hand!
The excel sheet will be updated everyday and sent to you! So keep checking! I've also sent contact details of people working on the project.. I've missed out on a few phone numbers.. will update it soon.. once I get 'em! You will not be able to make changes on the Excel sheet as its password protected (to avoid confusion!). So use it as a read-only file.
YEAP's thoughts: As this is a professional piece of work, we expect you to meet deadlines. Please do make sure of that. It is not a student work. And if you pitch in for something, please make sure you complete it. We need as compact a team as possible, and so if you're okay with working more than 16-18 hours a week, climb aboard.
So please make sure you're upto it! If not, please let me know by Thursday morning. Otherwise it would lead to confusion and chaos. (Thanks!)

Meet on Monday!

We're meeting on April 2, 2007 (Monday) at 4.30 pm in the studio to discuss our next project with Yeap!
We'd have to give in an exact number of people working on the project to Yeap, so lemme know if you're going to be involved in the project =)
If so, let me know
1. how many hours you can put in per day or how many days a week
2. what you'd be interested in working on: storyboarding, asset building, character design, rigging, animatic, animation, backgrounds, special effects, compositing, editing, rendering and exporting.
I need to know the above cause I know all of us are pretty busy with deadlines/holidays and the like and it'd be easier with the above info. We have ONE month to complete the project. So think about it and lemme know when we meet up! Thanks..
And for those who can't make it, I'll email you details soon, after which you can let me know if you want to pitch in!

Brief
Animation Pointers
We are using DIGITAL CUTOUTS due to time and budget constraints. This medium has proved to be effective (if treated with care) and less time-consuming.
Apply the simple rules of squash and stretch, over shoot, ease in and out, follow throughs and lags. We want to make the audience believe that these cutout images are alive.
Visual Treatment
We will stick to a tight colour palette. Generally all subjects are monochromatic with a wash of colour.

Most scenes appear backlit, at dusk, the mood should be dark and gloomy but gradually gets brighter as the chickens are liberated and the pigs are at bay.

Ok, what next?!
Hey hey hey!
We're done! The film has turned out well and it's looking AWESOME! Thanks to all you guys.. A really good team effort, wasn't it?! And so much fun!
Ooh and for those put up with my nagging =) sorry if I drove you up the wall!
A note from Sarah:
"Ok dinner on Saturday at 7 pm at my place It will be a picnicky/potluck kind of affair, so please bring a plate (with some food on it!) and your own alcohol."
We're planning to watch the film together as well! So yeh, please make it if you can!
AND final orders for the TropFest DVD with the casing and stuff by Saturday night when we meet please.. cause we might end up paying more if they have to set up everything again for DVD label printing. I think it would work out to around $3-$5 per person again. Depends on how many people want it!
As of now, I have orders for Sam, MoonSun, Michael, Sarah, Shreyas, Juan, Jo, Gav, Hung, Amy and me. Correct me if I'm wrong!
We should probably get a copy for Jamie, James and Ben!

IMPORTANT!
Hey guys!
How's it all going?
5 DAYS TO GO!
Hope the guys who are animating Roscoe got the rigged file and it works well. I haven't sent to all mainly because it would clog your accounts! Also, lemme know who needs Roscoe in 300 dpi. Way too big to email in all views. So lemme know which view you want him in, if needed.
The NEW ANIMATIC is up on the NetStorage. Please check it out!
IMPORTANT:
1. We go with a more photographic FEEL for the assets and backgrounds and a textured look for the characters. Just as in the production still.
2. ALL CHARACTERS need similar eyes to that of Roscoe, eg. his pupils. I have attached a png of it. Please change the colours to brown, blue, grey etc. in Photoshop.
3. SHADING. All characters would be shaded and you would be using 'colour burn' for the brush in Photoshop and painting over the actual colour, rather than shading on the layer above.
Also, Michael's going to experiment with roscoe's hanging eyes today... and he will be making some close-ups of roscoe breathing in pepper, so nobody else should spend their time doing this, as it could be recycled through the film.
Moon Sun has completed her scene and sent it for approval.
I'm updating the blog with a few jpegs of assets and backgrounds. Please take a look at those too!
PLEASE EMAIL ASSETS OF THE STUFF THAT ROSCOE SNEEZES OUT, TO ME!

Here he is!
We have Roscoe, all rigged up and ready to animate! I shall be sending it over a few emails because of the file sizes!
Also, we've decided to go ahead with the Bono scene now.
Juan and Hung have started working on Backgrounds today in full swing. Juan has completed Bgs for two scenes! My aim is to finish backgrounds by Friday afternoon. Fingers crossed =)
Gavin ~ Michael and Sarah have sent some of their thoughts. You would have to make a few changes to your Santa scene! Will call you tomorrow =)
Jo has done the character designs for her scenes and will be emailing them for approval tom! They look nice!

New Year Update
Hey guys!
How're you all doing?! Hope the weekend went off well!
Here's a quick look at whats happened today:
Juan's completing Roscoe at last! Heh.. It will be sent to Sam tonight for rigging!
Michael's finished one scene, so I shall ask him to upload the scene as reference for everybody to take a look at!
Gavin's almost finished his scene as well, he's doing his backgrounds!
Hung will be sending the SWAT guy and the flies as well to to Sam tonight!
Moon Sun will be done with her scene by the day after.
Please give ideas for the title! And please lemme know if all your names are correctly spelt on the spreadsheet. This is for the Credits! So please do reply =)
And Juan and Hung, please check as to the backgrounds that you guys have to complete! We need the backgrounds finished by Friday afternoon at the most! Most of them are pretty easy! Lemme know!
We just have 7 days to go!
