What''s happening, what's not?!

Hey!
Thanks guys, you guys are doing an awesome job, AWAY! Really AWESOME :)

WHATS HAPPENING!
Juan has had problems downloading textures, but has downloaded them now. So he will be sending Roscoe's files for sure tomorrow morning. And Sam, has all of Roscoe's rigs ready!

SO everybody would probably have Roscoe's .fla file, ready to go tomorrow night or early Saturday!

Sam has started off work on his scene too. MOST OF ALL, he's now trying to test if we could use bitmap fills in Flash instead of working on texturing in Photoshop. We would be emailing the files to the Directors for approval later tonight! Even if it means re-doing stuff, please bear with us, as it might be an easier option in time to come!

Shreyas has worked on sketches for his scene and is texturing them for approval from our Directors.

Jo is starting off today, as is Moon Sun!

Sarah's been working on her assets for her two scenes and Michael's working on the Animatic, Production Still and his scene too!

Gavin's got his Santa scene rigged and ready to be animated. He's opted to do the backgrounds for the scene by himself too!

Lachlan has done a few more gooey tests. I shall upload them if and when NetStorage works!

So things are looking bright and cheery as we trudge along! Cheers to that!

BACKGROUNDS: Juan and Hung, please choose the scenes you want to work on (for backgrounds!) and please let me know. Gavin is doing scene_008_santa.

WHAT'S NOT!
HOWEVER, if you promise me stuff, please remember to inform me if it is being delayed! I've been waiting for files/emails, patiently for more than 4 days now! Its ok if there is a delay. I am totally aware of the problems we face because of the transfer time, uploading time, etc. etc. but it takes just a minute to email/call/message me about the delay. Mainly because other people await files. Hope you understand and sorry I'm being blunt, but yeh, keep me posted!

NetStorage ~ Down

The NetStorage is down, I do not know why. Is anybody able to log on? Says incorrect password, but am able to log onto my Student Email!

Anyways, if you need to upload stuff, you can use the ANIMATION CLUB! Gmail account and email them to me and whoever required!

Character design for Roscoe!

Get set, go!

Hey there!
How's it going guys? Hoping everybody's started off on their respective scenes!

FIRST OF ALL, we need a TITLE! Anyone, any ideas? Keep them coming!

Secondly, the people who haven't chosen scenes yet, I have assigned scenes that weren't already taken! I'm sorry.. but too late now! So please check that out and do start off..

I've sent a REFERENCE ANIMATION that Michael has made for us. So take a look at that!

Juan is sending me all of Roscoe's parts/files, that I would be texturing and renaming and forwarding to Sam to do the final
roscoeRig. So we'll have the character done by tomorrow night for sure, (hopefully!) Keep a lookout!

* Juan, since Hung's building assets for two scenes I've allotted those two scenes for you to animate. That way you need not build assets, instead you can start off on backgrounds! Lemme know which scenes you want to work on for backgrounds!

* Shreyas, since the superman scene had been already taken (I'm assuming you didn't take a look at the Spreadsheet :) sorry!) I've alloted two other scenes for you!

Lachlan has done some awesome gooey mucus tests.. they're on the Server (Library --> FX). He would be doing titles and credits as well!

Guys, use FABRIC-like textures.. and don't forget black outlines! As each scene is being done by different people, we need to maintain the same feel and look to it! So please use appropriate ones! I've uploaded a few textures.. some are not usable I think.. so take a look and please do upload the textures you use too! So that other people can use them if needed!

All the characters that you design and build should be on the lines of Roscoe!

Those who are building characters like Bono, Superman, Pope and all, please make sure they're not photographic.. they may look a little bit cartoony BUT should be easily recognisable!

As stated before, Roscoe's tower is ON HOLD.. until Michael gets back to us, with a reference and scale sheet! That will be the 29th.

Boxing Day Update!

Hey guys!
Hope you had a relaxing day yesterday and are all getting set to start off work tomorrow :)

Please check out the updated Spreadsheet!

Juan has promised to send in Roscoe's files in both resolutions, by tonight!
* Juan, please email them to me and Sam (I forgot to mention that)!

* Sam, hope you will be able to start off work on it and get it done by tomorrow afternoon for Michael to start off on an animation reference for all!

* Hung, please get back to me as to what you've uploaded.. After our conversation on the 23rd, I did not find anything on the NetStorage account :) try emailing it to me instead. Might be quicker! Zip it if possible! Thanks..

* MoonSun, hope you got my email :) IM me if you need any help, yeah?

* Michael, I'll be going to the studio tomorrow to upload more textures onto the NetStorage Library! Please email me an updated script and the production still :)

* Jayt, please lemme know the progress of Santa scene.. You said you might not be able to work on it because you're away. I have the files.. so would you want me to pass it onto someone else? Or will you be continuing?

NOTE:
1. Sam and Juan are rigging all main characters to avoid confusion/errors.

So ASSET BUILDERS:
Please do check the Spreadsheet to see the main Assets that you have to essentially create :) of course, you are free to be creative, for more! Hehe.. See 'Char-Objects Naming & Progress' and 'Required Assets - BG - Effects' for details..

1. Once the character/animal design (with BLACK Outline) is done, please send the files to Sam and me.
2. Sam would do the character/animal breakdown and inform you which parts have to be made separately for Animation.
3. You would then have to make the separate parts in both resolutions*, IF required.
4. Files would be sent to Sam again to rig up the character.

*Resolution:
large: 300 dpi (For CU and Mid Shots)
small: 150 dpi (For Long Shots)
(Please see Spreadsheet for naming)

NOTE:
1. Roscoe's tower also can be ON HOLD until we get a PRODUCTION STILL from Michael.

2. 'Bono' and 'Line of Coke' scenes are ON HOLD until Michael is finished with the Animatic! we will then know if the scenes are in!

By tomorrow afternoon, if people havent picked out what they want to work on (with an EXCEPTION of Sarah, Hung, Jayt and MoonSun) I shall be allotting scenes :) hehe..

but seriously people! We need to get the ball rolling!

We have ANOTHER TEN DAYS ONLY!

Christmaas Eve Update!

We can go ahead with making assets for all scenes but Line of Coke and Bono! So SARAH, hope you haven't started off on it yet.. Do you want to choose two other scenes?

Also, we're including the pepper shaker in the film! I don't think I gave an update on it..

Bono News!

Bono's being awarded knighthood for his humanitarian work! Hahaha.. We couldn't have expected better news than this, could we?!! Our film's surely gonna kick-ass now!

Holiday Weekend Update!

Hey guys!
How's everything going?! Things are going pretty smooth for now, we're re-working on the animatic a bit just to time out it out well! We've decided to lay off things till Tuesday, but if people are willing to work out WHO WANTS TO DO WHAT before Thursday (technically, the day we start animating, hope we do! We should in fact!) it would be great asI might find it easy to source out assets and stuff to you...

GOOD NEWS:
To make things simpler (as Gavin suggested!) and for everybody to comment, I have created this BLOG for our productions..
BUT I'm gonna continue emailing too, as we're all away, to keep badgering you all.. heh.. until Jan 2nd/3rd!

BETTER NEWS:
MoonSun is gonna be working on the film from Korea! Yeyyyyy :) as part of the ANIMATION team!
~ MoonSun, I shall email you everything as you had asked!

Shreyas has done an awesome job of helping me out with the backgrounds/expressions list :) and I reckon its time for everyone to help out with building a Textures LIBRARY.. There is a folder called Library --> Textures on my NetStorage account.. For everybody to load textures that they can find! A collaborative effort is needed.. so please pitch in guys! And do follow the naming convention used there as much as possible!

I have attached the SPREADSHEET that I have done as to what is required.. it still needs some work done/updations, etc...

~ Jayt, is Aniko still planning to work on the film.. after Christmas? Please lemme know..

Michael is planning to work on the script, production still a reference animation and a basic expression reference, for all you
animators! The SCRIPT will surely be up by tomorrow morning, if not tonight.

I suggest the ASSET BUILDERS (That's Michael, Juan, Jayt, Lachlan, Jo, Aniko (?!), Hung!) choose what you want to do. Take a look at the spreadsheet and the animatic and choose.
~ Hung's already chosen three scenes.. Jayt's chosen one.
The rest of you, would you please lemme know what you'd be interested in doing?!

You would not be able to make changes on the Spreadsheet that I am sending, you would have to open it as Read Only.. this has been done to avoid confusion. So email me as to what you're interested in for me to update.. Or leave a comment here!
BETTER HURRY before you lose the chance to choose!

I suggest those who are working as ANIMATORS and ASSET BUILDERS choose the same scenes as they can work on it fully instead of sharing assets to other people for animation. Easier that way..

I would essentially nominate Sam to RIG a few of the main characters for all the animators as the Asset Building is going on! Sam, would you be able to? Lemme know please :)

I've had too much to do, so I haven't yet worked on the NAMING COVENTIONS and resolution issues and stuff.. will do so and post it soon.. by Sunday night hopefully! Sorry..

Update..

Hey guys!
We've worked on the animatic a bit more as Sam came in this afternoon to rig the character and suggested a few things.. Some more to be approved by our directors! Hey Sam, thanks.. as always, you're brilliant at this!!

Things seem to be going smooth now.. with Juan having done a character design that's to be approved. And Hung having done a test on one of the other characters ~ a SWAT team member. It looks great! I've uploaded them for you guys to take a peek. Jo's worked on a file for texturing Roscoe, that the directors could experiment and play with! Thanks Jo :)

Sam has set up an awesome awesome rig that I have uploaded to the Net Storage account and would be emailing it to Juan for him to work on! As soon as the Director's approve the character!

We'll have a production still tomorrow and also an extensive list of shots, assets, backgrounds, etc. for people to start working on!

Those working on Assets ~ Michael, Juan, Jayt, Lachlan, Jo, Aniko (?!), Hung ~ could possibly choose what they want to work on and start off building the assets required. Hung has already started off.. he did a test for the frontal view of the SWAT members and its turned out really well! Check it out.. its on the server!

The assets list will be emailed to you tomorrow and keep a lookout for updations to it on the NetStorage account. It will be updated atleast once a day I'm guessing for a while!

Huh, no more typing for me until tomorrow I'm guessing! So see ya'll sround!

A fruitful day with..

A reality check! We have just 2 more days to go before everyone goes their own way and we have loads of stuff to put together before that!

Character Design
An EDITED animatic
Production Still
An animated puppet to be used as a reference
Character Style Sheet for movements
Scale Sheet
Sound/Music meet with Ben Carew/Jamie
and also..
Lists lists and more lists!!

Anyways, the storyboard has been completed today and also scanned! Thanks to Amy, Micky, Hung, Shreyas and all the others who worked on it.. Made it so much easier to get it done quickly! Everything has been set up for it to be imported into FCP!

Juan and Hung showed us some of their character designs and they've done a stunning job with Little Roscoe.. Everyone present basically got an idea of how the character is going to be broken up and put together digitally! So we shall have a final character this Friday! Yeyyy.. thanks guys!

Sam intends to come in sometime tomorrow ~Thursday~ to rig up template characters and set it up as a reference for those animating!

Michael's promised to come up with a production still tonight, so that everybody's gonna have a clearer picture of what we're looking at interms of style and aesthetic!

We would have an animatic ready for the directors to take a look at.. by tomorrow afternoon! And for an edit. Will let you guys know as soon as it is uploaded.

I reckon from tomorrow on people can start testing textures and colours and see what looks good.. so guys please do drop in to do that anytime or you could do that at home too and send in stuff!!

It has been quite a day today.. anyways! See you all tomorrow..

Whats Up, Who's who?!

Hey all :)

As we all know, Micky and Sarah have done an AWESOME! job with the script till now and I shall upload a copy on the NetStorage Server as soon as I can grab a copy of it! Few more issues have to be resolved!

More brainstorming sessions.. character design.. mock-ups.. animatics.. These would go on until Friday for those who are
interested to pop in at the studio and share with us some of their creative juices! We shall also be working on Scale Sheets, Character Style sheets and Naming Conventions, details of which shall be uploaded onto the Server and notified!

I have both PC and Mac versions of Flash 8 for all those who need it :) you can grab a copy from me anytime!

We would be using my RMIT Net Storage account to transfer and share our working files. I have already created a folder in Home@RMITNet inside called TropFest 2007 for you to dump all your stuff in it.

A rundown of what people have committed to yesterday and a timeline of our schedule until D-Day has been uploaded too! It also has a document with all the contact details of people working on the project!

ACHOO! - Tropfest meeting

Hey everyone.
For EVERYONE that wanted to be involved in Operation Tropfest, we have a meeting Tuesday 1pm in the studio.
In the meeting we'll reveal the piping hot script the concept team have created, plus talk about the art direction, production methods, roles and availabilities.
It's important that everyone that wants to be involved comes to this meeting to make it easier all round.
